MK2

MK2 is a computer case that incorporates many lessons I have learned in design for manufacturing and space efficiency. My main design objective was to create a minimalist exterior and functional internal layout while remaining easy to manufacture and assemble.

The case structure is made of 4 aluminum extrusions and several acrylic plates. All of the exterior panels attach magnetically to the frame for a clean, screw-less appearance. The aluminum extrusions also have an aesthetic function and contrast with the matte black acrylic. The interior features a flexible side fan/radiator mounting system and a slew of 3D printed brackets that fasten parts together. These 3D printed parts have been optimized for ease of printing and strength. There is also a custom front power switch that uses a mechanical keyboard switch. To achieve this, I created my own basic PCB.
