PC | 02

Project: PC | 02 is an open source pc case utilizing both laser cut and 3d printed parts. While a minimalist ethos underlies many of my projects, this case was an exercise in something a little more abstract. It supports the Micro-ATX form factor and full size GPU's in a relatively small footprint.

Objectives: The main focus of PC | 02 was to design a large footprint computer case with 3d printed parts serving as a central construction material. Diffused LED's, a PSU shroud, and 240mm AIO support must also be elements of the final product.

Features:

  • Although 3d printed cases have been created in the past, they've been exclusive to ultra-sff builds. PC | 02 incorporates 3d printed parts on a large scale, with the case's bottom and top composed of grey PLA.

  • The case is specially designed for a 240mm Asetek AIO with a 27mm thick radiator. There are no clearance issues with the radiator+fan thickness, nor the routing of the rubber tubing.

  • There is a full-length PSU shroud that contains cutouts for the SFX PSU fan, and a mount for the SSD bracket.

  • LED diffusers located in the front and top of the case disperse light with frosted acrylic film and aluminum foil reflectors. They are hooked up to the PSU's 12v output, and can be controlled with an IR remote.

  • The unique engraved topographic design catches and defracts the light coming from the LED's.
